Sei Labs Proposes Full Transition to EVM-Only Architecture with SIP-3
Sei Labs has put forth a proposal to streamline its blockchain architecture by eliminating support for CosmWasm and native Cosmos transactions. The move, outlined in SIP-3, would shift the network entirely to an EVM-based framework, aiming to reduce complexity and enhance interoperability within the ethereum ecosystem.
The proposal mandates that only EVM addresses can initiate transactions, phasing out CosmWasm contracts and native Cosmos messaging. Core functionalities like staking and governance will remain accessible via precompiles. "This transition simplifies the developer experience and strengthens Sei’s position in the EVM landscape," the proposal states.
